Encaustic Workshop

Two Day Encaustic Workshop
With Mo Godbeer at
The Station Gallery Trafalgar

let your creativity run wild and learn to paint with Beeswax in this two day
encaustic techniques workshop with Mo. You need no previous art experience, only your desire to be creative.
Hot molten beeswax and pigments make up your palette as you create unique art on plywood boards.
We will cover

• A brief history of Encaustic
• Fusing
• Layering,
• Mark making
• Studio and workshop safety

Mo will share with you many tips and tricks from her vast knowledge of Encaustic.  You can expect to take home at least 2 completed art pieces, in addition to your sample reference boards.

Mosaic Marble Immersion

In July Sculptor and Marble Mosaic artist Cetta Pilati will be hosting two workshops in the Trafalgar Station studio space to facilitate the Gippsland area.  

Workshops being presented are two day Direct Method Marble Immersion and two day 3D sculptural wire substrate.  All materials provided and class sizes are small.  Please email cetta.pilati@gmail.com for information sheet / enrolment form.  www.cetta-pilati.com.au 


Materials / tools to bring:
- Lightweight, flat, working board approx. 30cm x 30cm (Masonite or MDF)
- Pen/pencil and paper
- Safety glasses or seeing glasses
- Design: will be impromptu and created early in the session, using simple aesthetic thought process.
- Ceramic tile cutters or mosaic wheel nippers
- Screw top jar and zip lock bag for extra Kerabond and Isolastic to finish your project.
- Marble w/shop only - Steel hardie and hammer if you have one - I will have two sets to share
- Sculptural w/shop only - Pliers for wire cutting, leather (thick rubber) gloves, dust mask & tesserae.
Supplied: Marble to complete the project (Immersion workshop), adhesive (Kerabond Grey and Isolastic), mixing equipment, materials needed for direct method on mesh, wire and mesh for 3D forms,
sanding paper and comprehensive printed notes.
About Cetta: Cetta Pilati is one of only a handful of artists in Australia working predominantly in marble mosaic. Her teaching practice explores a fusion of traditional technique and timeless contemporary design
with a key focus on the quiet forgotten simplicity and tradition of ancient approaches to art. Most recently Cetta has been blending natural stone and steel to create exciting new work. Cetta conducts workshops in Melbourne and by invitation throughout Australia. She is an award-winning artist who has completed several commissions, both private and public. Cetta has Bachelor of Fine Arts (Majoring in Sculpture)
from RMIT University.

Marble Immersion Direct method

Level: Beginner to Advanced
Workshop Descriptions:
Marble immersion: You will learn how to identify different types of marble, how to use a hammer & hardie and nippers to cut natural stone, as well as placement and cutting techniques. Discover the simplicity and unlimited creative possibilities using the direct method without grouting.

Sculptural Wire substrate

Dates: Sculptural Wire substrate - Fri 27th & Sat 28th July 2018


Sculptural: Be taken into the wonderful world of 3D form where you will learn how to create a sculptural substrate (20-25cm) from scratch. Learn technique methods to make a structurally sound strong and light substrate, and how to complete the sculpture with application of mosaic. We touch on marble cutting and placement techniques although any type of tesserae can be used on your substrate.
