My first interest in art was sparked in primary school by a travelling exhibition in Traralgon of famous Australian artists, notably Albert Namatjira, William Dobell. I was impressed by Russell Drysdale’s ‘The Rabbiters’. This was in the 1950s.
In later years I developed a keen interest in the colourful atmospheric paintings of the Impressionists.
I dreamt of going to France to see if the scenes were as-colourful as real life.
Eventually I was to walk-in the footsteps of Monet, Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Renoir, Paul Cezanne, and Vincent Van Gogh and witnessed that colourful light of that part of the world.
My inspiration comes mostly from local scenes done in an impressionistic style mostly using a mix of gouache and acrylic on canvas.
I hope you enjoy my art.
