Bio Statements: Formatting/ Submitting

  • Our team is small: only Australian contributors may submit work here.

  • Each of you must give a bio statement, but just once (max. 50 wds).

  • PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS BIO STATEMENT ALL IN CAPS XXX

  • Start with your name, using prose, in the third person (she/ he/ they).

  • You can name the city/ town/ region/ state/ territory where you live.

  • Feel welcome to acknowledge traditional owners of country.

  • Sum up achievements/ involvements as a writer/ prizes/ publications.

  • Add a sense of your working life/ other interests too, if you wish.

Longer Poems: Formatting/ Submitting

  • Our team is small: only Australian contributors may submit work here.

  • PLEASE DO NOT PRESENT LONGER POEMS ALL IN CAPS XXX

  • Offer up to three (3) poems, 30-lines or less, each in its own text box.

  • A maximum of two (2) such pieces will be chosen per poet per issue.

  • Put just text for poetry itself, plus notes, in larger submission boxes.

  • From other boxes given, our system will add in titles & poets’ names.

  • Please use the Enter key to show spaces between stanzas/ sections.

  • Place-names can be added above/ below (not counting in total lines).

  • If text is shaped or needs italics/ gaps, describe clearly, in same box.

  • Look at more detailed guidelines: check for mistakes. Best of luck!

Tanka Submission


Tanka: Formatting/ Submitting

  • Our team is small: only Australian contributors may submit work here.

  • PLEASE DO NOT PRESENT TANKA ALL IN CAPS XXX

  • With tanka, give your name only within the box labelled for that here.

  • Don’t put your name above texts: don’t give stand-alone tanka a title.

  • You may offer up to five (5) such pieces, putting all into one text box.

  • If a string of four (4) tanka is being submitted, give a title & sub-title.

  • Four (4) tanka maximum will be chosen, as a string or stand-alone.

  • Give the text for each poem distinctly, with an Enter gap in between.

  • All pieces have to be five (5) lines long, true to English Lang Tanka.

  • A 5-7-5-7-7 count is NOT needed: aim for shorter-longer/ less is best.

  • Place-names can appear above/ below poems (not to count as lines).

  • If text is shaped or needs italics/ gaps, describe clearly, in same box.
