by Nicoletta Glod
For every version of myself
Lining up the days of my life –
The one with bright and shiny eyes,
The one who drags her heavy feet on cloudy days,
The one who ponders by the window
I cherish all of you and keep you close
A thousand versions of myself, I will remember all
A thousand shades, a thousand lights
Each holding ropes of hope inside
My weakness is my strength.
Even the one in shiny armour
Closed lids over the weary eyes
I have cherished all of you
A thousand versions of myself, with hope inside
I thank you all for being me, each one of you who dances
Or shines, or stops at times – one takes a moment to be sad.
Then, waits for leaves to fall.
And when outside, the night is dropping heavy
I lift you each – one at a time – to have a party just inside my head
Fiesta doesn’t need a crowd
It’s only the inside music playing now
The memories just spring alive again
And dance to warm the tired soul
The night is heavy, but the hope remains alight
Tomorrow’s hopes – a rainbow to become
A call to strive, to live, to fight another day
A call to muster the quiet courage that lies in me
And try again when failing to succeed
To all past versions of myself, I thank you all for giving strength
To take the pen, and on a page to write it all again.
