take me to the city where I lose myself
clicking cameras
suits sashay
betwixt checkerboard red, black splashes
battling brollies
squirrels Hyde in plain sight
your Eye always watching
let me ride your underground
multicoloured maze
rainbow veins pulsing
dot-to-dot, jigsaw journeys
cacophony of cadence
sweet lilts
MIND THE GAP
harsh, angry utterances
to my western delicate ears
show me a sky painted with planes
taste fairy floss contrails tailing
days never-ending
let me feast upon pomp, palaces
traditional chimes
show me wax works, cricket, the culture
football, concerts, lions in squares, museums, the plays
to fill my days
take me to the city where I am never lost
your streets I know
yet not set foot upon their cobblestones
give me it all so I may return
discover you again
as if I’d never been.
