Please submit upto 3 longer poems and upto 5 Tanka using the forms below. Please offer each poem separately (one poem only per entry). You will be returned to this page after you have entered each poem. You will receive a notification by email for each poem you submit, please check your spam folder if you cannot find the email.

NB. We cannot consider your poems for publication until we have received your Bio. Scroll down to the Bio form below or click here.

You may also use the “Save and resume later” link next to the Submit button.
When you have finished your entries please just exit the web page. You may revisit this web page at any time to complete your submission.

Formatting & Submission Guidelines for Longer Poems

  • Do not repeat your name or the title of the poem again in this text box.
  • DO NOT SUBMIT POEMS ALL IN CAPS.
  • Use the enter key to show a gap between stanzas/ verses/ sections.
  • Your poem itself can be no longer than 30 lines of text (with gaps not counted as lines).
  • Place-names showing locations for poems can be added above or below (with these also not counted as lines).
  • Check your work carefully.
  • You can submit up to three (3) longer poems in this submission, so repeat this process for your second/ third.

Formatting & Submission Guidelines for Tanka

  • Do not repeat your name here, or the first line of the tanka as if a title - just give the whole poem.
  • DO NOT SUBMIT TANKA ALL IN CAPS.
  • Each piece must be five (5) lines long, true to a widespread approach with English-Language Tanka.
  • Tanka offered here do not need to follow a 5-7-5-7-7 pattern with syllables: less is best.
  • Place-names can be added below the poem (not counting as a line).
  • You can offer up to five (5) tanka, repeating this submission process for other pieces.
  • A sequence of four (4) tanka can be submitted, with a title added.
  • A maximum of four (4) tanka will be accepted from any contribution.

Guidelines for Bio Statements

  • Within this text box, write your biographical statement, using the third person (she/ he/ they), beginning with your name.
  • DO NOT SUBMIT A BIO STATEMENT ALL IN CAPS.
  • This statement can be no longer than fifty (50) words.
  • You should name the town/ region where you live (along with your Australian state/ territory), including a sense of traditional owners of country if you wish.
  • You should also sum up your main achievements/ involvements as a writer, covering prizes won/ previous publications.
  • You may add a sense of your working life/ interests too, beyond writing.
  • Check your wording carefully.
  • If you are submitting multiple pieces/ both tanka and longer poems, the same bio statement should be offered in all cases.
